RPi control boards for steppers

A cheap and simple control board was designed to control generic optical elements at IOTA. Communication and processing of IO signal is done with RPi 3B+. Stepper motor control is done with A4988 compatible diver (aka StepStick).

Input voltage directly goes to StepSticks to power stppers and to DCDC converter that provides 5V to power RPi. Another DCDC converter is used to convert 5V to 3.3V for StepSticks' logic.

5V Converter: LM2596 DC to DC Buck Converter 3.0-40V to 1.5-35V

3.3V Converter: AMS1117-3.3 DC 4.75V-12V to 3.3V step down power supply (up to 800mA)

Version 1

There is only one board of this version and it is not instulled currently. This version can control 5 steppers and has 7 inputs for limit switches

Version 2

Discontinued. There are several boards of this type. This version has different pinout compared to v1, which allowed to make a single-sided board.

Version 2.1

Most recent version. This version has the same ports connections and each socket for limit switches was duplicated to allow two connections to the same input port. Traces and polygons were optimised for PCB production with a CNC router.

This version can control 5 steppers and has 7 inputs for limit switches. See attached files for schematics.
