GMC Geometry Versions

Three different geometries are currently maintained: run 2B, run 3, and run 4. It is important to use the correct geometry for the data set you wish to study. The names of the geometry schemas are like geometry_G#_run#. The number by the G is the version number of the geometry, you should always use the most up to date version.

Run 2B

  • G13
    • Made several corrections to the Planes table for the 2013 and 2014 survey results
    • Added volumes of air flagged as upstream interaction objects for GMC. They are located upstream of the dump.
  • G14
    • Corrected the D3pXp entry in the Planes table. Because of a typo it was not updated in v13 like the other entries.
  • G15
    • Fixed a bug where the planes in D3p and D3m were in reverse order.
    • Added SurveyResults, DetectorSpacings, and SurveyResults2 tables. The results of the survey used for the geometry are stored in the SurveyResults table. The DetectorSpacings table contains information on where each detector plane is in the larger detector station, i.e. where D3pV is inside D3p. There are currently gaps in both tables, but they have all the detectors from the latest surveys.
    • Added survey_update.sql script. This creates the SurveyResults2 table, which combines the SurveyResults and DetectorSpacings tables. This also updates the Planes table with the results in the SurveyResults2 table. The z_spacing = 0 for the stations 3 and 4 hodoscopes can not be correct, as they are double ended and there would be a huge gap in y in the active area if this were true.
    • Mistakes in the survey results for run 3, most noticeably the y position of D3p, have been corrected.
    • Changed many variables in the Planes table from FLOAT to DOUBLE
  • G16
    • C3T_phy and C3B_phy in the PhysicalVolumes table have had their yRel field changed from 0 to +/- 79. Before they both sat in the middle of the beamline. This was extremely inaccurate. Programs other than GMC should have been unaffected by this mistake.
    • Changed the variables back from DOUBLE to FLOAT. All the change did was add several insignifigant digits, just making it less human readable
    • Changed survey date to CHAR so it could have a month and day, not just a year
  • G17
    • Moved osta3 z position from 1900 to 1910
  • G18
    • Added D2 and H4Y survey results
    • Moved osta1 to z = 600 cm

Run 3

  • G6

    • Moved osta3 z position from 1900 to 1910

    • Added D2 and H4Y survey results
    • Moved osta1 to z = 600 cm
    • Put in preliminary numbers for all station 1 detectors.
  • G5
    • Updated the preliminary z position of station D1. It moved by 18 cm.
