Restart a data taking run¶
Updated 2012-03-23¶
Note: This procedure currently only works once you've successfully started a run with a new Run Control GUI. Otherwise, it's likely the incorrect (or no) configuration files will be selected for one or more systems.¶
If you've cleanly ended a run, and none of the applications have gone mad, you can just click Begin Run again.
However, if you would like to reconfigure, do the following:
Once the run has ended, the RC GUI will highlight legal actions in Green. The safest thing to do is to follow this steps listed:- "Prepare Hardware Config." (Note: you do not have to re-specify the config file names in the command bar if you have already done so since last restarting Run Control)
- "Load Hardware Config."
- "Configure Hardware"
At this point, RC will offer you a "Start Run" button in green, but don't do it! Not all applications have the same state model as Run Control (which will be fixed at some point). Continue with - At this stage, you should cool the APDs
- Click the "START Cooling" button on the DCSMain tab in the DCS GUI on the bottom right screen of NOVA-DAQ-2.
- Wait until the indicator light next to that button turns green, about 3 minutes.
- "Prepare Run Config." (Note: you do not have to re-specify the config file names in the command bar if you have already done so since last restarting Run Control)
- "Load Run Config."
- "Configure Run"
If all has gone well, it is time to begin the run, for which you will have to click: - "Begin Run" on the RC.
- Make sure the run is synched, per instructions of the day.
