Installing a Local Database¶

If you wish to install a local database server(eg, very convenient for local processing), below are some notes on the installation procedure for Linux-based machines.
- As root, create a user "postgres" on your local machine/network if one does not already exist.
- Download the latest version of the PostgreSQL graphical installer here.
- As root, run the installer. Be sure to select a location (directory) that has enough space for the NOvA dB tables. 1 TB disk space is suggested.
- As user postgres, make the following modification to the $PSQL_DIR/data/pg_hba.conf file:
