Here are the steps that I used to upgrade UPS and UPD on novatest01:

  • logged into the products account on novatest01.fnal.gov (logged in as myself, then ksu-ed to root, and su-ed to products)
  • 'upd install ups v4_7_4a'
  • 'upd install upd v4_7_4a'
  • 'ups declare -c ups v4_7_4a'
  • 'ups declare -c upd v4_7_4a'

Here are the steps that I used to package Java for UPS/UPD on novatest01:

  • Downloaded JDK 1.6.0_14 from java.sun.com. Installed the files in my home directory.
  • Switched to the products account...
  • Created a /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_14/Linux64bit-2 directory.
  • Copied the contents of /home/biery/jdk1.6.0_14 to /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_14/Linux64bit-2.
  • Created a /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_14/Linux64bit-2/ups directory.
  • Copied the contents of /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_02/Linux-2/ups to /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_14/Linux64bit-2/ups.
  • Verified that the existing table file was sufficient.
  • 'ups declare -c -f Linux64bit+2 -r /fnal/ups/prd/java/v1.6.0_14/Linux64bit-2 -m java.table java v1.6.0_14'
  • Switched back to my account...
  • kinit already done...
  • 'upd addproduct -c java v1.6.0_14 -f Linux64bit+2'

Here are the steps that I used to package Ant for UPS/UPD on novatest01:

  • Downloaded apache-ant-1.7.1-bin.tar.gz from ant.apache.org. Installed the files in my home directory.
  • Switched to the products account...
  • Created a /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.7.1/NULL directory.
  • Copied the contents of /home/biery/apache-ant-1.7.1 to /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.7.1/NULL.
  • Created a /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.7.1/NULL/ups directory.
  • Copied the contents of /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.6.5/NULL/ups to /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.7.1/NULL/ups.
  • Verified that the existing table file was sufficient.
  • 'ups declare -c -f NULL -r /fnal/ups/prd/ant/apache-ant-1.7.1/NULL -m ant.table ant apache-ant-1.7.1'
  • Switched back to my account...
  • kinit already done...
  • 'upd addproduct -c ant apache-ant-1.7.1 -f NULL'

Here are the steps that I used to build and package JCA for UPS/UPD on novatest01:

  • Downloaded jca-2.3.2.tar.gz from http://jca.cosylab.com. Saved this for later.
  • Downloaded jca-2.3.2-src.tar.gz from http://jca.cosylab.com. Installed the files in my home directory.
  • 'cd /home/biery/jca-2.3.2'
  • 'setup ant apache-ant-1.7.1'
  • 'setup java v1.6.0_14 -f Linux64bit+2'
  • 'setup epics v3_14_10_nova1'
  • Removed the special character from "decembre" in the headers of src/core/gov/aps/jca/dbr/Status.java and src/core/gov/aps/jca/dbr/Severity.java.
  • 'ant'
  • Downloaded SimpleJCA.zip from http://www.aps.anl.gov/bcda/epicsgettingstarted/developtools/java.html.
  • Created directory /home/biery/jca-2.3.2/SimpleJCA.
  • Un-zipped the archive to this directory.
  • Switched to the products account...
  • Created a /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_2/Linux64bit-2.6-2.5 directory.
  • Copied the contents of the /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_0/Linux-2-4 directory to /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_2/Linux64bit-2.6-2.5.
  • Replaced the contents of /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_2/Linux64bit-2.6-2.5/doc with the docs from jca-2.3.2.tar.gz.
  • Copied the jca.jar, libjca.so, JProbe.jar and SimpleJCA.jar files from /home/biery/jca-2.3.2 to /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_2/Linux64bit-2.6-2.5/lib.
  • Verified that the existing table file was sufficient.
  • 'ups declare -c -f Linux64bit+2.6-2.5 -r /fnal/ups/prd/jca/v2_3_2/Linux64bit-2.6-2.5 -m jca.table jca v2_3_2'
