15 83 Jason St. John
* In the LArIAT "e-log":http://dbweb6.fnal.gov:8080/ECL/lariat/E/index, fill out the *Start of Shift Checklist*
16 1 Jason St. John
* Find out from the shifter before you if there are any issues.
17 83 Jason St. John
* Refresh and read the "Run Plan":https://redmine.fnal.gov/redmine/projects/lariat-online/wiki/Run_Plan:

** what beam request LArIAT wants
19 83 Jason St. John
** any interruptions to expect

* If you have questions, use Google Hangouts: send an email to lariat.shift@gmail.com to get invitation.
27 89 Jason St. John
* If that doesn't work please call an expert! "LArIAT Call List":https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BCeFLgITn6lzCUgPFUd5y_5taIngt-yKgxg8y2l-tNY/edit?usp=sharing

31 92 Jason St. John
* In the DAQ terminal window, type <pre>go 500</pre> "Detailed DAQ instructions":https://redmine.fnal.gov/redmine/projects/lariat-online/wiki/LArIAT_DAQ_Instructions
32 38 Jason St. John
* The DAQ should make an e-log entry for your automatically.

*Beam and detectors*
37 96 Jason St. John
* "ACNET":https://redmine.fnal.gov/redmine/projects/lariat-online/wiki/Using_ACNET_for_monitoring to monitor the beam intensity and quality, especially:
38 96 Jason St. John
** the *S60* page of ACNET (intensity constant and not too high)
39 96 Jason St. John
** the profile plots for *MC7WC1* and *MC7WC2*. (beam is focused on target in MC7)
40 96 Jason St. John
* Synoptic (detector conditions alarms: everything on, not too much current, no temperatures too high, TPC safely submerged in LAr, etc..)
41 1 Jason St. John
42 1 Jason St. John
*Data taking*
43 96 Jason St. John
* "Run Status Webpage":http://lariat-wbm.fnal.gov/lariat/run-alert.html to monitor the run status (run number, number of spills, numbers of triggers, etc)
44 96 Jason St. John
** Note that, on the Run Status Webpage, %{color:red}if the run time appears red%, and the spills stop increasing, %{color:red}the run has come to a stop.% It will also speak an audible alert, once. *Start a new run immediately.*
45 1 Jason St. John
** Sometimes the Run Status page freezes. Refresh it to check.
46 95 Jason St. John
47 39 Jason St. John
*Data quality*
48 93 Jason St. John
* "Online DQM":http://lariat-dqm.fnal.gov/ to check basic data integrity.
49 96 Jason St. John
** "Data Stream metrics":http://lariat-dqm.fnal.gov/metrics/data-stream shows that all front-end electronics are delivering data.
50 96 Jason St. John
** "Data stream page":http://lariat-dqm.fnal.gov/data-stream?live shows if pedestal events, beam events, and cosmic events are all good.
51 96 Jason St. John
* "Event Viewer":https://cdcvs.fnal.gov/redmine/projects/lariat-online/wiki/Event_viewers to see TPC events.
52 96 Jason St. John
** If every beam event is too crowded and there are no simple events: consult the experts on Google Hangouts. They may ask you to call the MCR to request lower beam intensity.
53 96 Jason St. John
** If you +decide to post some interesting event+ in the e-log, +please write the number of the spill/event in the title or content of the entry+. It's much easier to search for them later!

* If a VME Power Supply has to be turned off in an emergency situation (e.g. problem with TPC PMTs) - turn off the regulate function first, then put the decreasing voltage values in the quick ramp window, go to 0 and then turn off!
