LArIAT DAQ Instructions

If you're not already logged in:

  • From a ROC West machine or the VNC session there, such as lariat-cr-02:
    • Do not use your own kerberos name or password on the ROC West machines. Instead please use lariat group account, automatically refreshed every 4 hours.
    • Check your credentials:
       klist
    • Get the correct credentials:
      kticket
    • Log in with username = lariat.
  • From an MCenter machine, such as ftbflx18 or ftbflx15:
    • Log in with username = ftbf_user.
      • Password is YOUR kerberos password, then it will ask for YOUR kerberos principal.
  • Once logged in, open a terminal window. If "klist" doesn't show that you have a valid kerberos ticket, get one: kticket
  • If there isn't any daq terminal running, SSH through the gateway and to lariat-daq00:
    ssh -X lariat-gateway -l lariat -t ssh -X lariat-daq00

  • Do NOT issue a kdestroy once in the DAQ terminal.

Screen sessions

  • If there's a screen session running in the daq terminal i.e. the top of the terminal displays [screen 0: bash]:
    • To join the screen session, just issue screen -x.
    • To detach from the screen session, issue <Ctrl+a> <d>.
    • If you need to start a screen session, issue screen and detach as usual when you're done: <Ctrl+a> <d>

Once you're ready

  • When you log in, it will print the following message

  • You can start the DAQ with the desired number of spills, e.g., "go 500".
  • The argument 500 is needed. It is the number of spills, i.e. sub-runs, before automatic stop.
  • If you want to quit, press "q" and wait ~15-30 seconds for the program to exit gracefully. DO NOT use Ctrl-C unless "q" doesn't work.
  • Special cases (if experts ask you to help):
