Convocation

Dear all,
FIFE identified the ability to build and execute experiment specific containers on HEP Cloud as one of the milestones for this year.
We are starting a working group that will understand experiments’ requirements for running “proprietary” containers and will help them get started.
Along the way we will address topics like Initial software build cluster, Integration with CI, Repository, Registry, Policy, GPU (libraries, drivers, etc.), Specific OSes.

In this meeting, Tony and I will give an introduction on how containers are used in OSG and on the on ECF infrastructure that allows building containers at Fermilab.
Then we'll open the discussion and define the steps for some initial experiments that want to start taking advantage of containers. The others can follow once the procedures are more defined.

Thank you,
Marco

Dear all,
FIFE discussed the use of containers and this should be added in its roadmap. With this meeting, we are starting to present to the experiments what is available at Fermilab and in OSG and to facilitate the use of containers for FIFE experiments.

Tony and I will give an introduction on how containers are used in OSG and on the on ECF infrastructure that allows building containers at Fermilab.
Then we'll open the discussion and define the steps for some initial experiments that want to start taking advantage of containers. The others can follow once the procedures are more defined.

I invited the people in the preparation meeting and the ones that expressed interest in the FIFE-Containers interest group. The meeting will be advertised also to the experiments.

Thank you,
Marco
