Using Guider and Navigation Plots

These are simple python tools for generating plots.

The Guider Plots

1. Log into DECamObserver@observer2.
2. cd annis/GuiderPlots
2.5 bash
3. source ./Guider_Plots
4. After the python window starts,:
In [1]: plt.clf(); guider.plot(163529)

In order to save a guider plot, hit the "floppy disk" icon
on the Figure 1 window with the guider plot.

The Navigation Plots

1. Log into DECamObserver@observer2.
2. cd annis/Navigation
2.5 bash
3. source ./Navigation
4. After the python window starts,:
In [1]: plt.clf(); qrData.navigate()

In order to save a guider plot, hit the "floppy disk" icon
on the Figure 1 window with the navigation plot.

The navigation plot uses data from quick reduce. The
green points are "useful" data taken since Oct 1, 2012,
if they are from a Main Survey program. The red dots are
data taken tonight, if they are from a Main Survey program.
The letters are the SN fields. The contours are lines of constant
airmass. These are calculated for now; re-issuing the command
changes both the airmass and the data taken today.

The bottom right plot is the data rate plot.
On average the DES takes 150 images per night
in the Main Survey program. This number is just
2*5*5000sq-deg/105 nights, divided by the tiling
area of the camera, pi sq-degrees. We don't have
to do this every night: for example the SN fields don't
count. Over a week or two time scale we should average
150 images/night.

The blue is "useful" data: we'd do science with it.
The green is "good" data: closer to what we expect
the survey to perform. The last class, "survey quality"
is a work in progress. One it is defined, it is survey quality
images that have to average 150 images/night.
