Point-R5

Confirm that Image Health will alarm for images with guiding errors > 0.5”

(Note: this requirement should be rewritten as the guiding component will detect errors of > 0.5" rather than Image Health)

Prerequisites

SISPI operational with guiding enabled
Some manual control to force guiding errors

Procedure

Take any kind of standard exposure with guiding enabled
Through manual twiddling, force telescope pointing to deviate by at least 0.5"
Check for alarms through the error log of the guiding component

Verdict

Check is passed if the guider successfully alarms when deviations of > 0.5" occur

Consequences

If undetected, observers will not know when large guiding errors occur. Undetected guiding errors could hinder scientific analysis of the data.
