Here is JSkyCalc's airmass plot for 1 Dec 2012. "Stripe82" line is for 02:15 +00. Other lines are for the groups of SN fields, and for the Eastern "Maximum Visibility" field in which late-season mini-survey will be conducted.

Standards fields

Here is an airmass plot for Nov 1 for locations spanning Stripe82 with Marriner griz and UKIDSS Y standards. Would like to pick minimal fields such that at twilights and middle of night there are always some at X<2 with dX>=0.3. Looks like spacing at 1.5 hrs will do this. But will need to use non-SDSS fields to last until AM twilight later in the run.
