Observing Plan for the November 10, 2014 Engineering Night

Star Flats

See Star Flat Instructions for a list of potential fields for star flats. Priorities are griz, then Y, then u & VR.

Primary Mirror & 4MAP tests

Stability check

1) Move to 5degrees from Zenith, Take 5 in-focus r Band, 30 sec exposures to set focus & alignment

2) Turn AOS off, add +1500 to Focus Trim, leave other Trim values in place

3) Take 10 r band 30 second images

4Map settling study

1) Stay out-of-focus

2) Tweak Astigmatism: ct2mag 1000nm ct2ang 0

3) Take 5 images

4) remove Astigmatism Tweak

5) Take 5 images

6) repeat as desired

4Map sensitivity matrix study

1) remove Astigmatism Tweak, stay out of focus

2) take 3 images, r band, 30 seconds

3) Tweak Astigmatism: ct2mag 1000nm ct2ang 180

4) take 3 images, r band, 30 secons

5) Tweak Trefoil, ct2mag 1000nm ct2ang

Install Astigmatism and Trefoil LUT

Night

New LUT
  • Switch to new Hexapod LUT, using the open codemanager window on system1:
 ~codemanager/newLUT.csh 
will switch to new LUT.
  • restart the LUT role using the architect console
  • watch the log message - after a while it prints out which HexapodLUT directory is used (should be HexapodLUT_v20141110 for the new LUT)
  • a SISPI restart is NOT required
Restore original LUT
  • to restore original Hexapod LUT, using the open codemanager window on system1:
 ~codemanager/oldLUT.csh 
  • restart the LUT role using the architect console
  • watch the log message - after a while it prints out which HexapodLUT directory is used (should be HexapodLUT_v20141010 for the old LUT)
  • a SISPI restart is NOT required
