Why:

The AOS centering tests are an attempt to determine if our current "best center" is truly the "best center".

The test will consist of moving the center set point to -1 mm for 10 exposures in x and y, +1 mm for 10 exposures in x and y and back to 0 microns for 10 exposures. This is done by issuing the following command via the Architect Console

How

take 3 x 60 s exposures at with nominal settings (defaults) to get into focus/aligned.

How: Details

The command can be issued at any time during an exposure and will take effect on the following exposure.

When: During second half of night (only during this time)

The observer should pick a field and (good) filter and simply track on that field for the above 50 exposures. Please note expids in the elog. Please pick a field that will be at relatively low airmass for the entire duration.
