Description

Currently, geometry objects, and in particular TPCs and cryostats, "know" their own position but do not know about the neighbouring volumes.
In a multi-TPC context objects reconstructed in the various TPCs need to be stitched together, and merging the separate volumes in a global one is another possible reconstruction approach.
The detector topology information will make these tasks easier.

A set of requirements, goals and interface need to be defined as a first step.
The implementation is likely to land in geo::GeometryCore and in the geo::XxxxGeo classes.

Further discussion and design is needed before this can be implemented. Will relook at this in early 2017.

We believe that global wire coordinates have fulfilled the immediate need for this. The remaining work for global wire coordinates must be completed by DUNE. Should further optimization be required, this ticket can be re-opened.
