It would be nice to choose my login timeout length. For example I would like to login at the beginning of shift and set my login for 8 hours. I understand that normally 8 hours is way too long for a session but for Operators on shift this would be a convenient practical improvement.

- Status changed from New to Rejected
The elog originally had this feature. I felt allowing users to select much longer logout times increased the likely hood of users accidentally creating entries using someone else's credentials.
In theory an operator should not get logged out. The elog does have a one hour timeout that is conditional to there being new entries or comments. If no new entries or comments exist for the refinement selected the session will not timeout. All thats required to reset the session timeout is to refresh the elog. Operators should be checking the elog more frequently than every hour and on slow nights the elog will not timeout as soon.
