Description

At the PDS meeting today Steve Brice and I spoke about the use case of wanting to have detailed control of the physics of a beam hitting a target. Mu2e wants to be able to control pion and anti-proton production when8 GeV/c protons hit our production target. We definitely want to control the first interaction of the proton with the target material and we may want to control a subset of the secondary interactions. MiniBoone has a similar request for their production target.

Both experiments have custom code that gets linked into Geant4 as needed. We would like to learn how to use the G4 methods to create our own processes so that we can turn these on and off in a way that is native to Geant4.

It is likely that other experiments will also be interested.
