Description

Hi Lynn,
When you get a chance, please create a shared scratch area on the WH14 teststand cluster.

I recall that you created exactly such a nice environment on the DAQ and LNGS teststand clusters, and it would be great to have the same setup on the WH14 teststand cluster. (Maybe there was some issue at the WH14 cluster than I'm forgetting? If so, please remind me.)
Thanks,
Kurt

There is no disk available for this.

Hi Lynn,
As we discussed, it looks like you did some magic on dsfr5 and dsfr1 to get /scratch and /data to share the same disk.

On dsfr5 (LNGS teststand), it looks like /data is a symbolic link to /scratch/data.

On dsfr1, it's really cool magic. /data and /scratch are both on the /scratch disk, but I can't see any obvious way that it's done (no links...).

So, if possible, it would be great to something similar on dsfr6.
Thanks again,
Kurt

It seems that /data is not shared. I'm sorry, but the only option would be to create /products/scratch, which is really dangerous.

A shared /scratch directory is now available on both dsfr6 and dseb8.

I noticed that after a reboot of dseb8, the scratch area was not visible from dseb8. I was able to run a mount command by hand to get it remounted, but adding it to fstab and rebooting didn't seem to work. After talking with Ron a bit, I modified the export from dsfr6 to use /data/scratch.

Here is the current /etc/exports file on dsfr6:

/home dseb8(rw) ds50wsp(rw)
/products dseb8(rw)
/usr/local dseb8(rw,no_root_squash)
/data/scratch dseb8(rw)

Here is the current /etc/fstab file on dseb8:

#
  1. /etc/fstab
  2. Created by anaconda on Tue Jan 15 05:46:18 2013 #
  3. Accessible filesystems, by reference, are maintained under '/dev/disk'
  4. See man pages fstab(5), findfs(8), mount(8) and/or blkid(8) for more info #
