Description

Hello GlideinWMS Team,

I was wondering if we can change the default behavior of a few of the glideinWMS/factory/tools scripts.

Currently, if we call entry_q from an arbitrary directory, it will fail:
entry_q CMS_T2_US_UCSD_gw2
Dir '.' not a valid factory dir: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'glidein.descript'

unless we call it from the dir of the working factory instance (or call with -dir option pointing to the instance).

This gets cumbersome during daily operations. It would be much more convenient to be able to call it from anywhere. as a solution I propose that the script also checks an environment variable for the path of the default factory instance.

We already use such an environment variable for some of our custom tools at UCSD, defined in our .bash_profile:
export GLIDEIN_FACTORY_DIR=/home/gfactory/glideinsubmit/glidein_Production_v4_3

Can you please modify entry_q to also check for this (or some other appropriately named environment var of your choosing)?

I'd also like to see this idea propagated to analyze_entries, analyze_queues, and analyze_frontends tools as well.

Thanks,
Jeff
