Description

Settings have preliminarily been introduced into DPM. Protocol compiler messages have been created for applying settings and receiving replies.
This issue is to track the DPM settings project.

History

#1 Updated by Beau Harrison 12 months ago

Python settings have been completed for the Python 3 branch of the DPM repo.
The GSSAPI library was adopted to allow for reading the local active Kerberos credential.
This may need to be considered more deeply considering the rigidity of the CLX nodes where these kinds of scripts are likely to run. End users would like this to "just work." There is little interest in running these scripts from work laptops. This may mean also supporting a Python 2 client library longer...

#2 Updated by Beau Harrison 12 months ago

The JavaScript client library is nearing preliminary completion, no authentication.
I'm noticing some strange behavior while testing.
I'm able to set the reading property?

#3 Updated by Beau Harrison 12 months ago

I noticed last week when demoing the Python settings to Jeff Eldred that G:BEAU was set to 0 at one point. All of my test scripts add 1 to the SETTING value so, this shouldn't happen. I thought maybe it was a fluke but today when testing the JavaScript settings it happened again. I haven't been able to nail down a reproducible scenario that makes this happen.
