query disk size for data objects
It would be useful to have a command line utility that, given a name
of a framework data file, prints information about the file and all
the data products it has. Such as the number of events in the file,
product names (dumpDataProducts.fcl has that), disk space taken by
each product, and perhaps the count for each product (not necessarily
equal to the number of events). Can such a utility please be added to

Looks like I am not the only one wishing for such functionalities to exist.
See for example http://listserv.fnal.gov/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind1109&L=art-users&T=0&P=66

ART is not the based tool in my opinion to interrogate the on-disk size of a product across an entire tree/file. This is handled better by ROOT-specific interrogation at the tree level. Also, given the nature of ROOT branches and baskets it does not make sense to ask the question, "How big is this product in this event on disk" because it is compressed with data for different products of the same type in ultiple events.
Please contact roottalk and/or Philippe for further details on a standalone, ROOT-based answer to your question.
