Description

The second step is to investigate and do an evaluation of all possible web technologies that can be used:

  • Evaluate different static site generators
  • Evaluate/test use of templates (pug), Jekyll, ...
  • RestructuredText vs commonmark (markdown)
  • Consider hosting on github.com, readthedocs.org

Once you have it, it could be nice to have a comparison per point between the different options that you have investigated.
Also, it could be great that you could show which is the best option for you per each point.

I researched the various static site generators, content management systems, and platforms available to host and produce the website and compiled my research in the following Google slideshow:

I have currently decided on utilizing the Jekyll/Github.io platform to create the website, as it works with markdown text (which is designed for website creation), is easy to host, and has easily-accessible features that the website requires. The following document contains a little bit more information on Jekyll and Github.io. It is a document that will be continually added to throughout this project:

However, if Jekyll does not seem to be fully cover this website's needs after the actual build of the website is initiated, Hugo can be experimented with as well.
