Description
The 485 links that are used to communicate between LEPRs and AARTs use a proprietary protocol. MODBUS is a robust industry standard. We'd gain expertise and reliability by moving to a known standard.
History
#1 Updated by Beau Harrison about 2 years ago
I have already experienced human error mistakes in installing new AARTs. The problem is in coordinating the addressing of each module through the entire system. If one piece is wrong, the whole thing doesn't work. Paul Kasley doesn't know of any examples for automatic addressing over MODBUS.
Can something like DHCP be implemented? A custom change like this adds risk.
