High network causes "fatal DMA underflow"

I saw this in my PXMC2 front-end (an MVME-2434 running VxWorks 5.4). I was trying to find an Industry Pack carrier in A16 space. I ran (in a telnet session) the command:

d 0xfbff0000,0x1000,1

to see chunks of memory. Parts of the dump get sent but then there's a pause. Before more of the memory contents are displayed, there is a pair of messages:

interrupt: dc0 - fatal DMA underflow
(tNetTask): dc0 - restarting device.

The output is missing ranges of memory, which means restarting the ethernet interface lost some of the output. I should be able to emit text as fast as the network will take it.
