Description

reload should allow to reconfig gwms services on SL7.
I get an error on both factory and fronend:

# /bin/systemctl reload  gwms-frontend.service
Job for gwms-frontend.service invalid.

History

#1 Updated by Marco Mambelli almost 2 years ago

# /usr/sbin/gwms-frontend reconfig
Frontend is running. Invoking reconfig without stopping the service
# /usr/sbin/gwms-frontend reload
Usage: gwms-frontend {start|stop|restart|status|reconfig|upgrade}

I thought reload was working also for a running service

The first messages from you

# /bin/systemctl reload  gwms-frontend.service
Job for gwms-frontend.service invalid.

I believe this is the standard message from systemctl command
when we run "systemctl reload" command against a stopped service.

Your second messages

# /usr/sbin/gwms-frontend reconfig
Frontend is running. Invoking reconfig without stopping the service
# /usr/sbin/gwms-frontend reload
Usage: gwms-frontend {start|stop|restart|status|reconfig|upgrade}

reload is systemctl command, not an option to our gwms-frontend(or factory) script..

So, my current opinion is, there seems to no real problem here..
Could you confirm, Marco?

No issue here. Accepting that reload is only for running services.
I'm wondering if you could prepare a short message to add to the release notes highlighting the correct behavior in SL7.
thanks.

PS he reload in rapid succession is in [#17417], for the next release.
