Here some flags used in PBS to reserve more than one core. Used to check and verify.

For single node jobs:

#PBS -l naccesspolicy=SINGLEJOB -n
or
#PBS -W x=NACCESSPOLICY:SINGLEJOB
or
#PBS -E

and to request more than one core:

#PBS -l nodes=1:ppn=8

and the number of cores assigned is PBS_NUM_PPN
