Ooops - hit return instead of tab ....

One of my colleagues on Mu2e discovered a ROOT bug that has been fixed in the master and scheduled for inclusion in ROOT 6.10/00. The bug affects interactive use using a TBrowser or the TTree viewer; to my knowledge, it does not affect art in any way. Once this release of ROOT is available, please upgrade art to use this version of ROOT at your earliest convenience.

If there will be a substantial delay between the availablity of this release and a subsequent art release, please make this version of ROOT available by pullproducts so that we can install it in cvmfs our users can use this version interactively.

The ROOT JIRA ticket is: https://sft.its.cern.ch/jira/browse/ROOT-8714

Thanks,
Rob

Hi,

We would suggest a request on the ticket for a port of the fix to the v6-08-00-patches branch.

In the meantime, however, I was able to cherry-pick 8891e2f from master and apply it clean. I am currently building v6_08_06a with these (and other patches as seemed appropriate) and will test using the reproducer provided with the ROOT bug report. Assuming the test passes, would you be OK with having a patched 6.08/06 (which could be included with the upcoming 2.06.03 release) or is there some other reason to prefer something directly from the master branch, or to wait for 6.10/00 (currently projected for "May-ish," according to Philippe)?

  • Subject changed from Please upgrade to ROOT 6.10/00 when it is available to Please upgrade to a version of ROOT with a fix for TBrowser bug.

I can confirm that the problem appears to be solved by using the above-described patched build of ROOT 6.08/06. Please advise whether this constitutes a resolution to your problem and we will fold said patched ROOT into art release 2.06.03.

If I understand correctly you have merged this commit into our local root repo and will include in your next release of root for art.

If so, please do this. Thanks.
