Description
This morning we found that all our TCP connections were being used. Wally and Beau are doing web development and their web app couldn't connect to ACNET. Doing some probing revealed that a Los Alamos employee's laptop was connected to acnetd
141 times! Cleaning the connections was tedious and restarting acnetd
outright would have disrupted service to the local DPM.
I propose that acnetd
processes handling TCP connections monitor the USR2
signal and terminate when they see it. This allows us to use "killall USR2 acnetd
" to quickly disconnect mobile/web clients.
