Description
Often when running a long job, I would like to get a "snapshot" of the ntuples and histograms to see how the job is going or to make progress on tuning analysis root macros. Would it be possible for the TFileService to respond to, say, SIGUSR1 or SIGUSR2, causing it to write the histograms and ntuples to a root file which gets properly closed for use, and then continue on in the job?

This needs more discussion before we can be sure enough of the requirements to give a reasonable time estimate.
